About the Artist
Lois McManus is a metalsmith creating jewelry using sterling silver, copper, brass, and bronze. Her style is a little bohemian with nature inspired textures and an earthy feel. Working the metals using techniques such as soldering, fusion, etching, and forging, she also incorporates gemstones, semi-precious stone, handmade lampwork glass, porcelain and even pebbles into many of her creations, and is continually experimenting and exploring the characteristics of copper, brass, bronze and sterling silver. Craftsmanship is hugely important to her, and she tries to make her jewelry very comfortable, strong and able to withstand being worn (as your favorite jewelry) for years and years.
The Artist’s Work
There’s something about working with silver that brings together my truest artistic loves, texture and form. I had studied printmaking in college and was most attracted to the texture of the printing plate. But I wished for more than a flat print of that texture.
