Frank Fotia’s photographs express the natural world in an unconventional manner. He stresses strong light and dark values, preferring black and white compositions; emphasizes patterns that emerge from natural disorder; and creates abstracts that render the mundane into fresh viewpoints. His approach to photography is very deliberate. He doesn’t wait to be inspired; instead, engages in the act of creating and finds inspiration along the way. The art of photography serves to freely exercise his mind and imagination to create images that evoke emotion.
He has lived in the mountains of western Maryland since 2008, having relocated from the Washington D.C. area.
