Penny Knobel-Besa is a fine-art photographer, playwright and director. She has received many awards, both regional and national, and was once named Maryland Photographer of the Year. She has also been published in various literary journals. In 2016 she received the juror’s award at the Maryland Federation of the Arts in Annapolis. As playwright, she directed her play Off-Broadway in New York. She has exhibited in Austria twice and recently at Cumberland’s Gilchrist Gallery and Museum. She enjoys traveling and once camped alone at the Arctic Circle; she also likes teaching the “Art of Photography” at her Sanctuary Studios.
